Introduction to Arsenal Soccer Schools
Arsenal Football Club is one of England’s most successful football clubs with an impressive 13 league and 10 FA Cup titles. They famously played all 38 Premier League games without losing in season 2003/04, and currently retain the record of 49 league games unbeaten.

Arsenal’s reputation as one of the leading Premier League Clubs is cemented by their reputation for playing with their own unique style and flair. Arsenal Manager, Arsène Wenger, has been with the Club since 1996 and is widely regarded to be one of the world’s greatest coaches and is credited with transforming English Football into the fast paced and technically beautiful game it is today.

Arsène’s coaching methodologies are not only applied to the first team but have been filtered through the Club; to the Arsenal Ladies - England’s most successful Ladies team, the Youth Academy – the future players of the Club, and to Arsenal Soccer Schools – the Club’s grassroots youth soccer program.

Arsenal Soccer Schools started in 1985 as a local community project near Arsenal’s home in North London.  Arsenal Soccer Schools now operate all around UK and across the globe.  Visit PlaytheArsenalWay.com  External Link for further information on the locations.

Learn to Play the Arsenal Way:  An Introduction from Arsène Wenger
At Arsenal Football Club we pride ourselves on playing as a team to produce imaginative, entertaining and skillful football.  We take time to develop and nurture our younger players to ensure that they reach their full potential. By guiding players through our extensive training programs, we have produced many world-class footballers over the years.

The training programs in our Arsenal Soccer Schools have been developed based on the same principles we teach at the Arsenal Training Ground; developing young players’ technical skills and passion for the game to ensure they become the best players and athletes they possibly can.

We are excited to be in Somerset, Dorset, Devon & Cornwall to offer boys and girls the opportunity to improve their skills and techniques while learning to ‘Play the Arsenal Way’.

Arsenal Soccer Schools North Devon
Arsenal Soccer Schools South West are very active in the North Devon area. They have provided many successful courses such as SAT AM courses (Barnstaple, Bideford, Ilfracombe), Advanced Training Center's (Braunton), Holiday Courses (Bideford, Barnstaple, Ilfracombe) and many after school clubs along with team training.

Their aim is to increase football participation within the area even more with easy access to professional coaching and they believe they are firmly on the way to achieving this goal. As a result of working closely with local authorities, schools and clubs, they are offering FREE trials to any boy or girl in North Devon who are thinking about participating in football. With many courses on offer, they can provide appropriate courses to suit every ability and passion.

They are holding these trials at Bideford College Astro turf (full size) on the 12th September '12 5pm-6pm. These trials are FREE and the overall aim is to provide a course which will see them benefit and enjoy right through from basic participation on a Saturday morning to Advanced Training every Tuesday night at Braunton College or every Wednesday at Bideford College. In order to register for the trials, they are asking parents to register their players by texting TRIALS followed by NAME,AGE to 07988828466.

Primarily, these trials are a selection process for attending their invitation only Additonal Advanced Training Course & progression course but trials are open to every child in the district with a view to having no negative selection and therefore providing a course for all abilities.

They are very much motivated to make sure every child has the opportunity to play football no matter of their ability and will not exclude anyone wishing to play. They have worked closely with local councils and football clubs to also provide long term exit routes, community club wise. The training does not effect the eligibility of club players as it is additional training therefore providing a HUB of avenues no matter the preference of playing level.

Arsenal Soccer Schools Philosophy
Arsenal Soccer Schools encourages children to be active whilst learning to play football; with the emphasis placed on passing, movement, creativity and technical development through teamwork.

A – Attitude
To progress to your full potential as a football player it is vital to have the correct attitude both on and off the football pitch. You need to be positive and dedicated to fully master your skills and you need to be cool and composed when under pressure to keep control of the moment you are in.

R – Respect
Always respect your team mates, your opponents, your coach and the referee.  In order to get the best out of your team it’s important to appreciate the efforts of those around you. If you fail to respect the opponent you underestimate their potential, which can make your own standards fall below your usual level. Football should be played in the spirit of fair play, encouragement and fun. Take advice from your coach to help your game improve and remember self-respect is key for your own development as a player and a person.

S – Skills
At Arsenal we believe that skills and technique are essential to inspire creativity, flair, excitement and entertainment. Skills can help make football fun, help you improve as a player and help you beat your opponent.  Be inventive with the turns and tricks you use to move the ball, use both feet and don’t forget to work on the basic skills such as control and passing.

E – Energy
You need to have lots of energy to get the most out of playing football. The longer you can maintain a high level of fitness for, the more this will benefit you in games. If you’re not as fit as you can be, it becomes difficult to play to your maximum level. Drink plenty of water, think about the food you eat and be as active as you can in your day to day lives.

N – New thinking
Embrace your coach’s ideas and always think about different ways you can improve tactically and technically.  Be creative with your thoughts and express them on the field whenever you can.

A – All for One
Football is a team game. The more you work with your together the better you will become as a player and a successful team. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from football is a game that can be played by everyone.  Enjoy the feeling of belonging to a team and do all you can to help your team mates.

L – Learning
Never stop learning.  Learn how to play the Arsenal way.  Football based around passing and movement, technique and skill. Incorporating the principles of fair play, teamwork, expression and fun!
